Terms & Conditions

1. Who we are

The Transcript service ("Transcript", "we", "us") is operated by [YOUR LEGAL BUSINESS NAME]. You can contact us at [support@yourdomain.uk] or through our contact page.

These terms apply when you create an account or subscribe. By using Transcript you agree to them.

2. The service

Transcript converts audio and video recordings into text. Recordings are fingerprinted on upload, transcripts carry word-level timing and confidence information, edits are tracked, and every significant action is recorded in a tamper-evident audit trail. Exports can be independently verified.

3. Your account

You must give accurate information when registering, keep your password confidential, and tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised. You are responsible for activity under your account. Accounts start on a free trial; paid features require a subscription.

4. Your recordings and responsibilities

You keep all rights to the recordings you upload and the transcripts made from them. You give us only the permission needed to store and process them to provide the service to you.

You confirm that, for every recording you upload:

  • you have the legal right to possess it and to have it transcribed;
  • where the law requires, the people recorded have been informed or consent has been obtained;
  • it does not contain unlawful material.

Recording conversations is regulated differently depending on context and jurisdiction — obtaining any consents required is your responsibility, and we may suspend accounts used unlawfully.

5. Machine-generated transcripts

Automatic transcripts are produced by speech-recognition software and will contain errors, particularly with poor audio, overlapping speakers, or specialist vocabulary. They are drafts until a human reviewer has checked and approved them, and the product marks them accordingly. You must review a transcript before relying on it for any legal, disciplinary, or official purpose. We provide transcription software, not legal advice, and we do not guarantee that any transcript will be accepted by a court, tribunal, or other body.

6. Payment

Subscriptions are listed on our pricing page and are sold through our payment partner Paddle, who act as merchant of record: your payment, invoice, and applicable VAT are handled by Paddle, and Paddle's checkout terms also apply to the purchase. We never see your card details.

7. Renewal and cancellation

Subscriptions renew automatically, monthly or annually, until cancelled. You can cancel at any time; your access continues to the end of the period already paid for. Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy. If a subscription lapses, transcribing and exporting pause — nothing you have created is ever deleted for non-payment.

8. Your data

How we handle personal data is described in our Privacy Policy. Original recordings are stored unaltered and their integrity is verifiable; retention is under your control except where a legal hold applies.

9. Acceptable use

You must not attempt to breach the security of the service, interfere with its operation, use it to store or distribute unlawful material, or resell it without our written agreement.

10. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the service available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation; maintenance and factors outside our control can cause downtime. We may improve or change the service, and may update these terms — material changes will be notified to account holders in advance.

11. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud. Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profit, or losses arising from reliance on an unreviewed machine-generated transcript, and our total liability in any 12-month period is limited to the subscription fees you paid for that period.

12. Ending the agreement

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that materially breach these terms. On closure you may export your recordings and transcripts within a reasonable period before deletion.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction — though if you are a consumer you keep any protections of the law where you live.
